Penn Foundation has partnered with the Indian Valley Library for its 7th Annual Recovery Art and Poetry Show and Sale. For the entire month of May, the Indian Valley Library will display artwork and poetry created by individuals from Bucks and Montgomery Counties who are recovering from mental illness or addictions.

On Friday, May 30th, from 6 – 9 pm, there will be a reception featuring a meet-and-greet with the artists and poetry readings from this year’s submissions. For more information visit the Penn Foundation website Art Show announcement here.

Roch Pisarek was interviewed about this show after helping hang and display the artwork through the Indian Valley Library non-fiction section. The article is available online through the Montgomery Media in the Perkasie News-Herald titled ‘Penn Foundation art show at Indian Valley Public Library aims to increase awareness, decrease stigma of mental illness.‘ by Bob Keeler.

In the article Lisa Dembrosky, the art show coordinator and Penn Foundation’s Wellspring Clubhouse operations coordinator, said.”Along with showing the artistic talents of those whose works are displayed, the exhibit aims to give those who see it more information about mental illness and to take away the stigma often attached to it.”
